½ teaspoon salt

½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed

1 large egg yolk

2-3 tablespoons ice water

For the Pear Filling:

4 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

⅓ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Maple Mascarpone:

1 cup mascarpone cheese

¼ cup pure maple syrup

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Garnish:

Chopped pecans (optional)

Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Tart Shell:

    - In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered sugar, and salt.

      - Add the cubed butter and mix with your fingertips or a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs.

        - Stir in the egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of ice water until the dough comes together. If it’s too crumbly, add an additional tablespoon of ice water.

          - Shape the dough into a disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

            Preheat and Roll Out:

              - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

                - On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan with a removable base. Press the dough into the pan, trimming any excess that hangs over the edges. Prick the bottom with a fork.

                  Blind Bake the Shell:

                    - Place parchment paper over the tart shell and fill it with pie weights or dried beans.

                      - Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the weights and parchment, and bake for another 10 minutes or until golden. Let cool completely.

                        Prepare the Pear Filling:

                          - In a large bowl, combine the sliced pears, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, lemon juice, and melted butter. Toss gently to coat the pears evenly.

                            Assemble the Tart:

                              - Evenly distribute the pear mixture into the cooled tart shell. Arrange the pears in an attractive pattern for a beautiful presentation.

                                Bake the Tart:

                                  - Bake the tart in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and begin to caramelize. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

                                    Make the Maple Mascarpone:

                                      - In a bowl, whisk together the mascarpone cheese, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and well-combined.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Slices of the warm pear tart can be served either warm or at room temperature. Dollop or spread the maple mascarpone on top of each slice and garnish with chopped pecans and fresh mint leaves if desired.
