Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

1 1/2 cups warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

1/4 cup olive oil

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp dried Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, or basil)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the melted butter. Stir until a rough dough forms.

        Knead the Dough:

          - Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.

            First Rise:

              - Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

                Prepare Garlic Butter:

                  - In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant but not browned, about 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

                    Shape the Dough:

                      - Punch down the risen dough and transfer it back to a floured surface. Divide the dough into small balls (about 1.5 inches in diameter). You should have approximately 24 balls.

                        - Dip each ball into the garlic butter, then roll it in grated Parmesan cheese. Repeat until all dough balls are coated.

                          Assemble the Pull-Apart:

                            - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a bundt pan or a deep round baking dish.

                              - Layer the coated dough balls into the prepared pan, stacking them on top of each other. Drizzle any remaining garlic butter and sprinkle with black pepper and dried Italian herbs.

                                Second Rise:

                                  - Cover the assembled dough with a clean cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven.

                                    Bake:

                                      - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. The tops should be crispy, and the insides should be soft and fluffy.

                                        Garnish and Serve:

                                          - Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Carefully invert onto a serving platter.

                                            - Sprinkle with fresh parsley (if using) and more Parmesan cheese. Serve warm, pulling apart the delicious, fluffy pieces!
