Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)

1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary)

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Zest of 1 lemon

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Optional: 1 tablespoon toasted almond slivers for garnish

Instructions

Blanch the Green Beans:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and cook them for about 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Immediately transfer the beans to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain and set aside.

      Prepare the Garlic Herb Butter:

In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once the butter is bubbling, add the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for about 1-2 minutes, or until it becomes fragrant but not browned.

          Add Herbs and Seasoning:

Stir in the fresh thyme, rosemary, salt, and black pepper to the skillet and cook for another minute, allowing the herbs to release their flavors.

Combine Green Beans and Butter Mixture:

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet. Toss them in the garlic herb butter until they are well-coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.

                  Finish with Lemon:

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice for a bright flavor. Mix well to ensure the beans are evenly coated.

                      Serve:

Transfer the garlic herb buttered green beans to a serving platter. If desired, sprinkle toasted almond slivers on top for added texture and a nutty flavor. Serve warm as a delightful side dish.
