Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian option)

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes until fully cooked. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1 minute, being careful not to burn the garlic.

Add Broth and Cream: Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to thicken slightly for about 3-5 minutes.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat the pasta in the creamy garlic sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until you reach the desired consistency.

Add Cheese and Shrimp: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and lemon juice until melted and smooth. Finally, add the cooked shrimp back to the skillet and gently combine everything.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley and lemon zest. Serve immediately while hot!
