Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon sea salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until the butter foams, turns golden brown, and gives off a nutty aroma – about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix the Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown butter and packed brown sugar. Whisk together until smooth and well blended.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until everything is fully combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and sea salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not over-mix.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly dispersed.

Prepare the Baking Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later. Leave the other side ungreased for a nice crackly texture.

Spread the Batter: Pour the blondie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool and Slice: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then lift the blondies out using the parchment overhang and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, slice into squares or bars.

Serve: Enjoy them warm or at room temperature! They pair wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
