Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (preferably Swiss or honey ham)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Prepare Chicken: Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap or wax paper. Gently pound them to about 1/2 inch thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin.

Assemble Cordon Bleu: Lay a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Roll them up tightly, starting from one end, and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine to hold the shape.

Prepare Breading Station: Set up three shallow dishes. In the first, place the flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. In the second, place the beaten eggs. In the third, add the breadcrumbs.

Bread the Chicken: Dip each chicken roll in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Next, dip into the egg wash, and finally, coat with breadcrumbs, making sure to cover evenly. You can press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to get a better coating.

Arrange in Baking Dish: Place the breaded chicken rolls seam-side down in the prepared baking dish. Drizzle melted butter or olive oil over the top to help them crisp up.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the breading is golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Remove the toothpicks or twine before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley and pair with a side salad, roasted vegetables, or mashed potatoes.
