Ingredients

2 plain bagels (preferably day-old)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

2 apples (preferably Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and thinly sliced

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for sprinkling)

1/4 cup caramel sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Bagels: Slice the bagels into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Make the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.

Coat the Bagel Chips: Brush the melted butter on both sides of each bagel round. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar all over the bagel slices, ensuring they are well-coated.

Bake the Bagel Chips: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, flipping the bagels halfway through. Bake until they are golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

Prepare the Apples: While the bagel chips are baking, slice your apples thinly. If desired, you can sprinkle them with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.

Serve: Once the bagel chips are cool, arrange them on a serving platter alongside the apple slices. Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the apples for an extra touch of sweetness.

Dipping Sauce: Drizzle the caramel sauce in a small bowl for dipping, or serve it alongside the chips and apple slices for a delicious range of flavors.
